Gloriette

Schönbrunn Palace

Gloriette

Forming a fitting finale to the palatial Baroque complex, the Gloriette crowns the hill behind the palace, making it one of Vienna’s best-loved sights and a sought-after subject for photos.

The Gloriette has been used as a viewing platform since the beginning of the nineteenth century, and today visitors can still climb the steps to its roof to enjoy the stunning view.

The building consists of a central section designed as a triumphal arch and flanked by round-arched arcaded wings. The flat roof is edged with a balustrade and was used as a viewing platform from the beginning of the nineteenth century. Today visitors can still access the roof via steps to enjoy the stunning view.

Enjoy the panoramic view of Schönbrunn and large parts of Vienna from the viewing platform. The glazed central section of the Gloriette today contains a café.

! Due to the Summer Night Concert 2023, the viewing terrace of the Gloriette is open only until 5 pm (last admission 4:30 pm) on 7 June and only until 4 pm (last admission 3:30 pm) on 8 June.
