This tour also starts with an immersive presentation of the history of Schönbrunn. It’s followed by a tour taking in all the rooms on the piano nobile. Along with the private apartments of the imperial couple Franz Joseph and Elisabeth, and the state rooms at the heart of the palace, you’ll also see the exquisite private chambers occupied by Maria Theresa. Decorated in playful Rococo style, these are among the most fascinating interiors in the palace.

The Ceremonial Rooms at the Centre of the Palace

The tour starts with an immersive experience that brings the history of Schönbrunn to life, enabling you to meet the most important individuals who once lived at the palace and left their mark on it. • This ticket is available during the winter season (3 November 2025–26 March 2026) from the ticket desks at Schönbrunn Palace or online.
• The Schönbrunn Winter Pass entitles you to one visit to all the attractions included.
• Valid for admission to the Palace on the day selected at the time selected; single admission to the other included attractions to the end of the season.

The Children's Museum Schönbrunn Palace is situated on the ground floor of the palace (west wing). The Children's Museum Schönbrunn Palace is not just for children but for families and all those who want to learn more about the everyday life of the imperial family.

A time wheel helps you to see the difference between imperial children and children from ordinary homes. You can play with toys from the past, learn the secret language of fans, and set the imperial dining table! If you take part in a themed tour you’ll learn lots of interesting and amusing things about the past: What kind of food did they eat in imperial times? How long has Schönbrunn Palace been there, and was it always as big as it is today? And then afterwards you can dress up as a prince or princess.

In the Children’s Museum at Schönbrunn Palace there are loads of things to discover about the everyday life of the imperial children:
