Palace Day 2026 - Textiles & Silk

On 19 July 2026, together with the European Royal Residences, we will be celebrating European cultural heritage for the 11th time, with a special focus on textiles in court life and as an integral part of palace décor.

For centuries, tapestries, silk and textile art were among the most valuable and sophisticated forms of artistic creation. For the Habsburgs, they symbolised power, wealth and courtly status, whilst also supporting local craft industries and offering insights into daily life at the imperial courts.

Under this year’s theme, ‘Textiles & Silk’, we are highlighting the central role of these sumptuous fabrics. Their significance and beauty can still be felt today – from Schönbrunn Palace to the Sisi Museum and Schloss Hof Estate.
