Deutschmeister Concerts at Schönbrunn Palace

The 200th birthday of Johann Strauss Jr. casts a long shadow.

To avoid that in the upcoming year 2025 only his music will dominate, the spotlight will be turned on musical pieces by Strauss’ contemporaries, giving them the stage they deserve. Various conductors such as Josef Gungl, Philipp Fahrbach Sr. and Jr., Carl Michael Ziehrer, Karl Komzák, Alfons Czibulka, Eduard Wagnes and many others who are wrongly considered second-class composers will become the stars of these concerts.

They will not be presented as competitors or rivals of Strauss, but rather as creative and musical experts who had a hard time asserting themselves over the perfectly organised Strauss family.

You can hear the Deutschmeister Band on the following dates at the Schönbrunn palace:

• August 3, 2024 – 11 am (Schönbrunn)
• September 21, 2024 – 11 am (Schönbrunn)
