Fun for young and old alike

Find your way through the Baroque maze in Schönbrunn Palace Park!

The maze was designed around 1720, but by 1892 it had gradually been removed. It was not until 9 September 1999 that the new maze, based on historical models and covering an area of 1,715 m², was finally re-opened.

There is a viewing platform at the centre of the maze and two energising harmony stones activated by feng shui masters Jes and Julie Lim.

According to feng shui beliefs, if you place your hands on the stones it strengthens the flow of energy and enhances inner harmony.

Discover this playful opportunity for relaxation for young and old.

Privy Garden

The Privy Garden, known in German as the Crown Prince Rudolf Garden, is part of the Meidling privy gardens which lie immediately in front of the east façade of the palace, and received its name around 1870, after apartments had been furnished for Crown Prince Rudolf on the ground floor of this wing.

The four sections of the parterre are enclosed by formal beds and centre around an ancient yew tree.As the garden is sheltered from the wind, during the summer months it is home to a splendid display of specimens from the valuable collection of citrus trees of the Federal Parks and Gardens Authority.

Follow in the footsteps of the imperial family and stroll under the shady pergola of the former Privy Garden. The impressive patterns of the formal beds are best appreciated from the modern viewing pavilion.
